March progress

As we continue to enjoy excellent weather, we are managing to get on with lots of different tasks, and this week has seen a variety of jobs being carried out including, the signal box path has been completed using track ballast and looks very well, and here we see Alan and young Ben busy digging out last Saturday,

...Geoff is getting on well with Titan's bodywork, using MDF and a composite ply/insulation sheet for lightness (and strength), after his trip up/down the Amazon. Our members do get about a bit!!!!! has started on the repainting of Lucille, so the bodywork was stripped and she was raised on trestles so the boys could get at her! Here she is just before being elevated.......

Photo: Brian M can also see in the background that the painting of the Clubroom and workshop is coming along well, this is the first coat and by the end of the day last Wednesday the second coat was on too, very smart!

....and here is our 'caption' photo for this month....what's the problem Boys?

...the grass has had its first cut, and some shrubs/bushes planted to 'plug' the gap at the end of the platform adjacent to the signal gantry..

...oh, and 'The General' has had his new coat of paint and is seen here last Saturday in the station.

... and last Saturday saw the last of the turf removed and most of the track excavation completed on the last part of the revised 'back straight' trackwork. Well done Boys! Work is also in hand on preparing the revised signalling for this section.

....and away from the railway, some of the Gang went to the M & G N's 'That's Yer Lot' weekend which was excellent, and very busy. It will be even better when they install the road crossing to connect with the Norwich/Sheringham line......we have our Display stand at the Norwich Model Railway Exhibition on 4th April, and we are going to Ken Wallis's place (the Autogyro man !) in April.. the Great Eastern Railway Society are visiting us in May.....we have been invited to the North Norfolk Model Engineer's BBQ at Holt in June, and they are coming to see us that month too...

....we had our first birthday Party event of the year last Sunday which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, must tell you more about these when we have a minute !

Happy Hotspur

What a fantastic Spring day we have enjoyed today, bright sunshine and blue skies all day after an overnight frost. So one of the tasks for this day was to steam up 'Hotspur' to ensure she is in good fettle for a Birthday Party session on Sunday. The photos show a happy driver coming off the 'Den' section and then using the first part of the newly laid Stage 3b, or the 'Back section' as we think we will call it!
