|Lovely Primulas in bloom outside Woodpecker Lodge|
Hi....yep, the trees and bushes are blossoming, the daffodils are out.....and it's the time when a Young Man's fancy turns to......ha..ha.........building carriages, fettling signals and track circuiting, building wagons, painting benches and buildings !!!yippee!!!!
The weather is really lovely and so the signals are all out, the trackside signs are in place, and some of the grassed areas have had their first cut. Only about 6 weeks to our first Open Day, (don't forget....Sunday 3rd May, 2 til 5 pm, weather permitting, and how could it not ?), so plenty to do. We were pleased to let Ray loose at last, on Wednesday, with Viceroy's first trip around the circuit on its new driving tender, and the loco was flying, so will be a good addition to the ALR fleet. (think Ray was a happy boy !!!!).

The steam locos will probably be rejoined with their tenders at the weekend, and may get their first steam up, all being well. We have started to freshen up the paint on our buildings and fences, plenty to do here, so if you fancy a job ????? get in touch !
Work has also commenced on our two new coaches, which, when complete should help to reduce the queues a bit on busy Open Days, we hope!, and one, no, two of our members are building an open, low sided wagon, which will be really useful in carting stuff around the railway, and there is also a plan, we gather, to install removeable seating so the vehicle can be pressed into service as an additional coach!

It's also great to be able to see a pair of buzzards displaying around the site, as they have been around for a while now, in the trees adjacent to the railway, and their calling can be often be heard.
and the wagons snug in their new siding!
