Winter Wonderland

Well, did we get some snow over the weekend? These photos were taken on Easter Monday and totally transform the place. Picture postcard stuff....trouble is we never have any stock out to get some 'snowscene' photos when it does snow, and it never stays for long (hence waterlogged ground!)....

Another Job !

The great thing about building and running your own Railway is that there is always 'another' job to fit in, and our latest 'little' Project is to provide a 'Ticket & Sales Booth'. This has been on our 'wish list' for a while, and so, when we recently had the offer of a free 8' x 6' garden shed, we just had to have it, just what we needed !!!!!

So, some suitable timber studding and weather boarding has been obtained enabling us to make it a bit taller, and we are currently working away (see photo) so we can have it in position and in use on our first 2008 Open Day, which you will remember is Sunday April 6th from 2 til 5 pm.

Mechanical Engineering

Over the past few weeks our Engineering 'staff' have been busy fitting parking brakes to our coaching stock to make our operations safer, and easier for our Guards! A simple lever arrangement under the Guard's seat in the last 'compartment' allows the brake to be operated easily and quckly whenever we need to 'hold' our sets while, for example, a loco change takes place. The photos show the lever arrangement, and the kit of parts prior to assembly.......
